The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways under Mr.Nitin Gadkari is all set to approve the changes proposed in Motor Vehicles Bill 2016 in its next meeting.
The new amendments in the bill aim to improve road safety and the implementation of stricter transportation rules.
The traffic rule violators will be penalized with heavy fines up to Rs.1 lakh. The state government can further increase fine tenfold. The compensation to the victims of a hit and run case would be now up to 10 lakhs.
The other major amendments, which are expected, includes mandatory fitness testing for the transport vehicles and keeping provisions to boost the latest technologies like EV segment in line with government’s e-mobility drive.
