Mahindra is all geared up to taking a lead in e-mobility segment and has invested Rs.200 crores for Electric Vehicle power train plant at Chakan in Pune. The investment is part of their pact which the company has entered with the Maharashtra government.
Overall, M&M has planned an investment of Rs.900 cr to push its EV business interest out of which Rs.500 cr would be spent in Maharashtra in building EV capacities and balance Rs.400 crores would be spent in building other plants across India.
The Chakan plant will have the annual capacity to produce motor, transmission and power electronics for 50,000 EVs and is as an important milestone in the company’s e-mobility plan. The company has also made an office building, outside Chakan plant, which would have a seating capacity of 2500 employees. The new building is equipped with radiant cooling with 119 km of pipes embedded in slabs, which will result in saving of 35% of energy.
