The Kinetic Engineering is all set to foray into e-mobility and has started developing axles and gearboxes for electric vehicles (EVs). The Pune-based company has a manufacturing unit in Ahmednagar, from where currently it makes 75 different auto components.
The company on Monday said that it would work to provide a complete powertrain solution for electric vehicles. The company would design, develop and manufacture 2-speed gearboxes, and complete rear axle assembly along with the motor and controller.
The ready to fit kits would be available in 1 KW to 10 KW range and the target audience would be a scooter, mopeds, passenger and small commercial vehicles. Later on it would also design products for trucks and buses.
As of today, China dominates the power train kits market in India and Kinetic would provide the make in India kits to domestic manufacturers. The initial supplies would be made to 2 and 3 wheeler segment leading to higher KW powertrains. The target is to supply 4 lakh units by the year 2025 and expected business potential is 200 crores.
