Augmented Reality Shaping Future Of Car Retail

August 10,2019

Augmented Reality (AR) is the most fascinating technology which overlays information and objects on real-world physical environments. Anyone who has been a user of snapchat filters would know it for sure. AR is now the favorite among car dealers across the globe and they are using AR tools to boost sales and enhance the customer experience.

The credit for making AR popular among customers goes to Audi, which was one of the first brands to create a digital showroom branded as “Audi City”. The digital studio provided customers with the options of customizing their own car model using AR, which gave them a hundred million possible configurations.

BMW aims to transform the entire car buying experience with its BMW visualizer, which brings the brand digitally to the consumer. The new tech-savvy generation is excited and enthused with these AR solutions. The AR has changed the way a customer chooses, configures and makes a purchasing decision and allows the customer to interact digitally with a full-scale version of the car through an app.

JLR has gone a step forward and has provided a virtual test drive for its new car Velar by launching an AR-enabled ad campaign. The beauty of this banner ad campaign is that the customer can click the ad and experience a 360-degree view of the car’s interiors and the AR system also includes hotspots for further detailing on car features.

The South Korean automaker Hyundai too launched an AR tool for its dealerships in Australia, which runs on iPads and helps the sales executives to demonstrate the features and performance of Hyundai’s new i30 hatchback.

AR-enabled apps like USAA let the customers scan cars in the US to know about the price, nearest dealership and information about the similar vehicle in the area. It also offers customers the financial data to, instantly offer personalized insurance.
